Located just 7 km (about 4 miles) from the heart of Nairobi’s city center, Nairobi 
National Park is a unique wildlife haven and the only national park in the world 
that borders a capital city. Despite its proximity to the urban hustle, the park boasts a rich ecosystem with wide open grass plains and a backdrop of Nairobi's skyline. 
 
Key Highlights:

Iconic Wildlife: Home to lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, 
wildebeests, gazelles, and more. It also harbors one of Kenya’s most 
successful black rhino sanctuaries.

"A Close Encounter with Rothschild’s Giraffes" 
Situated in the leafy suburb of Lang’ata, the Giraffe Centre is a conservation and 
education center run by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW-Kenya). 
It was established to protect the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, which is found 
only in parts of East Africa. 


What to Expect: 

Hand-Feeding Giraffes: Guests can feed giraffes from a raised wooden 
platform, making it a fun and interactive experience. You may even receive 
a ‘giraffe kiss’ if you're brave enough!

Conservation Education: Learn about giraffe conservation and the history of 
the Rothschild’s giraffe rescue and breeding program.

Nature Trail: Stroll through the peaceful Gogo River Nature Trail, home to 
birds, warthogs, and small antelopes.

After completing your game drive in Nairobi National Park, the journey continues
just a few minutes away is the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust a world-renowned
elephant rescue and rehabilitation center located at the edge of the park.
Founded in memory of renowned naturalist David Sheldrick, this sanctuary is a
cornerstone of Kenya’s wildlife conservation efforts. It focuses primarily on the
rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned baby elephants whose mothers have been
lost due to poaching, human-wildlife conflict, or natural causes.


What to Expect:

The public visiting hour is from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, where you'll see the
adorable baby elephants during their mud bath and feeding time.

Learn about the rescue stories of each elephant and how they are
rehabilitated and reintroduced to the wild.

Opportunity to adopt an elephant as a symbolic gesture of conservation
support.
Note: It's best to arrive a bit early as the orphanage only opens to the public for
one hour daily.
